Well, I'm back
Jun. 29th, 2003 11:34 pmWell, that was fun.
I hung out with Josh Friday night/Early Saturday and he dropped me off at my dad's house where I fell asleep on the couch. They woke me up and got me ready to go to Astoria. We planned to leave around 8, but got out of there around 10. Women. Why does it take them so long to pack?? It was my dad, his girlfriend Dyana (I'll probably be referring to her as the "Wicked step-mother" even though she's very nice and is not married to my dad), my sister Michelle and her boy friend Bruce, Dyana's granddaughter Maleah, and my youngest sister Laurie.
Fairly uneventful. Drove down to the campground. Hooked up the motorhome. Set up the tent. Did camping type stuff. My brother Jason is in Job Corps in Astoria, so we picked him and his girlfriend Megan up for the day. They're not allowed to stay the night though, rules of Job Corps.
Went to the beach for the sunset. It was the first time I had seen the sun set into the Pacific Ocean in many years. I can't believe how much energy my dad had. He was running up and down the sand dunes with Maleah, and having her jump off of small cliff things so he could catch her. I hope when I'm that age I'm that fit.
Went back to the motorhome. Most people roasted marshmallows. I got out the laptop and played some Metroid. We then went to bed and dad drove Jason back to .Job Corps.
Woke up, got my stuff ready, and Dyana took me towards Vancouver to meet up with Hallah. She took me in the car and was planning on then going to see her folks in Mount Vernon. Meanwhile, my dad would get camp unpacked, take the kids home, and then he'd go to Mount Vernon.
Our directions looked pretty easy. At one point we were supposed to cross the Lewis and Clark Bridge. Well, the L&K Bridge happened to be closed that day. We had to take quite a side trip to get to brook's place (where Hallah currently is.) So we got there about an hour later than I was hoping, but still time to hang out a bit.
We talked for a bit, then went to the mall and goofed around. Went to IHOP. Got lost again. Came back to brooks' place, she was home now. Talked with her some. She drove me to the airport. Gave some final hugs and said good-bye.
I beeped at the metal detectors. Had to get searched with the wand thingy. There was a dime in my pocket. Grabbed my stuff and waited for the plane. I was in row 10, and since they were loading from the back to front, I sat down and waited till the end before I got on. Then I found out they were out of overhead bin space, and I would have to check my bag. I hate checking baggage. Not only is it more likely to get lost or stolen, but I also have to spend another 20 to 30 minutes at the airport waiting for the bag.
The flight was fine. I half-slept most of it. Got off the plane, went to go and get my luggage. Waited a long time for it. It was one of the very last ones out. I was far too tired to take a bus, so I ended up just taking a taxi home.
All in all a pretty good trip. I really liked seeing Hallah again. Damnit, why does she have to be 10 years older and have no attraction towards a 20 year old computer nerd?

Date: 2003-06-30 07:57 am (UTC)How do you know Hallah wouldn't be interested? 20 makes you legal. 10 years is significant, but if it were the other way, no one would think it much of an issue.
And, as an "older" woman myself, I LOVE nerds! Nothing like a man willing to apply time and study to a subject! So feel her out - so to speak. She might not be as unwilling as you might think.

Date: 2003-06-30 08:01 am (UTC)We've known each other for well over a year, and it's always been a joke with us that I have a crush on her. And she always threatens to kick my ass if I try anything.
We're very good friends, it's all in good fun.
