The Two Towers Review
Dec. 20th, 2002 07:44 pmWell, it's about time I wrote a review for The Two Towers I suppose.
Just some single topic thoughts I had about the movie.
Gollum - Very well done! Just as I've always imagined him! I loved the multiple personality thing going on, and I think the way Frodo pitied him and Sam hated him really worked well, you could tell Gollum was trying to change, but the power of the Ring proved to much.
Eowyn - Mmmm, Eowyn, swooooon. She's absolutely gorgeous! Miranda Otto does a superb job playing her, I look forward to seeing more of her in Return of the King. All of her costumes were beautiful, and I loved how her sword looked ... she can really handle a sword well. Why is Aragorn not going after her?? Forget that asthmatic bitch Arwen!
Faramir - My major disappointment in the movie. He was too changed from the book for my tastes, and I really didn't see a point to the change. I think the actor who played him (David Wenham?) looks great for the part, and did a very good job with what he was given, but it's a shame the character was so changed.
Gimli - LOL! Some of the best moments come from him. Everything from "You could have picked a better spot!" to "Toss me ... don't tell the Elf" ... it was great!
The Ents - Oh my Eru! The Ents! The fucking Ents!! They looked fantastic and so Ent-like! John Rhys-Davis, who also played Gimli, did an excellent job with his voice. It's just too bad they decided to cut a lot out from the Ents time.
Helm's Deep - It's always been my favorite battle in the book and the movie definately did not dissapoint. It was absolutely stunning, and had pretty much anything you could ask for in a battle. Only gripe is I wish they would have showed it without cutting back and forth between Frodo and the Ents.
I might think of more stuff later
