More about Dad's cancer
May. 31st, 2003 04:47 pmLast week I mentioned the insurance company my dad is a part of wouldn't pay for a gamma knife treatment for his cancer.
Well, Friday/Saturday, in the little town he lives in, they had something called the Cancer Walk, Relay for Life. They have this every year. Basically, it's a 24 hour walk around the high school track that raises money to help cancer patients. Usually very sucessful in raising quite a bit of money.
The local paper, The Daily World, heard about what was happening to my dad, so he was featured on the front page of the newspaper, and that, coupled with the pressure the hospital has been giving the insurance company (he does work for the hospital), the insurance company finally caved and they're giving him the money for the treatment :)
He has it scheduled for next Friday. I really hope all goes well.
