Human Contact
Apr. 17th, 2003 11:08 pmFor most of my life I've had little to no human contact. I never held hands or hugged or did anything like that. I was the person most people ignored and didn't bother with. I had a few friends growing up, but I think I've only had 3 good friends my whole life. Keith, who was a friend of mine in Kindergarten and 1st grade, then I trasferred to another school. We hung out still since we lived close together, but not as much as we used to. At the new school, while I had a few friends, none of them were really good friends whose house I stayed overnight at or anything like that. They were just people I talked with and played with at school and every once in a while went to their house afterwards.
In middle school I met Kenny. He was probably a mirror image of me. We even both had a cracked front tooth (his was on the other side though). We were both into computers, his grandparents owned a computer company so every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday we went over there and played games and explored the wonderful world of computers. Up until then I was just using the Apples our school had, it was my first experience with the Internet. We ended up both becoming MUD addicts, something which I still do to this day. He lived out far in the country, so we would go camping out there with just sleeping bags near a creek by his house. He sometimes stayed with his grandparents, so I would go over there as well. Then he started getting into drugs, as most people in our little town did. He changed. He didn't care much for computers anymore, just getting wasted. He dropped out of High School in 11th grade. Last I heard he cut off his pinky while working in his dad's saw mill.
Also in middle school, I knew Josh. I was sort of friends with him, but at first I didn't like him to much. He was more a less a jock. He did wrestling and was a pretty big guy for his age. Over the next few years we became friends. Him and Kenny used to be really good friends too, he became an avid MUD addict as well, but when Kenny started getting into drugs, they stopped talking. At the time I was watching profession wrestling a lot. And from me talking about it, Josh got curious. He started watching it and really liking it, and we became better friends. He was a lot of fun to hang out with, and we're still friends to this day and we do things when I fly back home.
But those were about the only friends I had ever had. Not exactly the touchy feely kind of people. But, unlike a lot of people who go without human contact and can't stand when people touch them, I like it. I like hugging, and holding hands, and things like that. But still, people move away from me, and I know they'd rather not have me touch them in any way.
I never hugged anyone as a kid, maybe my parents and maybe when I was really young in pre-elementary school. I really believe that Cynthia/Legolas'Bow was the first person I ever hugged who was not a member of my family, and that was in the summer of last year.
