Reasons To Dislike Feanor

Feanor also bothers me, BTW. I just want to hit him over the head with some anti-consumeristic rhetoric, a la Fight Club:

"You are not your possessions!"

"The things you own end up owning you!"

"Prepare to evacuate soul!"

And what a selfish brat he was, too. I mean, he had 3 of the things- he couldn't spare one to save the world?! And then the whole Kin-Slaying thing. I understand his anger and frustration with the galactically self-involved Teleri's refusal to help him out, but really. "Give me what I want or I'll kill you and burn your ships anyway."?!? Is conflict-resolution no longer part of the curriculum over at Valinor High? Yikes. And the way he treated his father was just shameful. "No, Dad, I demand you endure eternity alone! A new wife will seriously cut into the time I demand you spend paying attention to ME! ME, ME, ME!!!" And his poor wife, Nerdanel- "Babe, you know I love you, but you're seriously cramping my style. I'm going to take all the kids and get them killed horribly one by one. See ya around."

What a completely repulsive individual he was.
