Well, that was fun :p
May. 27th, 2004 12:23 pmSo after cleaning up a bit, I decided it would be best if I were to get some sleep before I went to pick up my dad. Fell asleep around 8, and at 9:30, my dad called. He was in Phoenix. He wasn't supposed to be there till 11:30. Well, he had been able to get onto an earlier flight, he had tried to call my cell phone and left messages. I looked at my cell, no missed calls, no new voicemails. I checked my voicemails and all the messages were there. Stupid phone.
So I left for the airport fairly quickly. Met my dad and brother at baggage claim. My dad had his bag, my brother didn't. Apparently even though they got booked on an earlier flight, they still put my brother's bag on the later flight. So we had to wait around for a while for it to arrive. My dad wanted to leave for Yuma today, he was keeping his motorcycle at his girlfriend's parents, and they were leaving Yuma tomorrow. He didn't want the bike to be in their way or have them waiting on him to pick it up. He first tried to rent a car, but all of his credit cards were bad. I couldn't use mine because you had to be 25. Bleh. So in the end, we decided to drive to Yuma in my car.
Fairly uneventful. Stopped for gas and Burger King in Gila Bend. I let my brother drive some. He was passing a huge semi-truck when it started to get over into our lane. We were in it's blind spot. My brother slammed on the breaks, I'm guessing he heard so he quickly got over. Whoops.
Dropped them off in Yuma, started to head back for Phoenix. Once again I came close to getting pulled over by a highway patrolman. The speedlimit is 75, I had my cruise control set to 85. I saw him sitting by the side of the road, in the median (it's a 10 foot wide dirt median). I quickly hit the brakes before I passed him, settled to a speed under the limit and looked in my rear view mirror. He was pulling out into the road. Luckily, he then did a full U-turn, and either started driving on the other side of the road, or went back to his spot to catch someone else.
Got back to Phoenix and got ready for the symphony. Josh and lotje went in his truck and I drove my car. She chose life :-p The symphony was great :-D So beautiful, and they projected Alan Lee and John Howe pics up on a screen as they played. Very cool.
We tried to go to Islands after the symphony, but it was closed, so we went to Denny's instead :-p Josh went to work, Cynthia went home, I drove lotje and Yammy back to my place. I went to bed pretty quick, I had worked 12 hours, had 1 hour sleep, Drove to Yuma and back (3 hours each way), went to the symphony and then drove around Phoenix for a place to eat. I was a bit tired :-p lotje and Yammy stayed up pretty late, so they'll probably be asleep for a while.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
