Last night I called my boss and gave my two weeks notice for my current job at FlipChip.

Over the past few weeks I've interviewed a few times with a company called ASML. They had called me yesterday with a job offer, which I promptly signed on my to go see Episode III. This new job should be interesting, it involves a lot of travel. A lot.

Basically, this company makes a product called a stepper. It weighs a few tons and is 10 feet high, 15 feet long, and other measurements as well. These steppers are in pretty high demand right now, despite the fact that they cost something like $20 million apiece. So my job will be to take these unassembled steppers to the companies who buy them (mostly in the US, but could be in other parts of the world) and put it together for them. It's usually done with a group of four people and takes anywhere from 6 to 10 days.

Putting together a $20 million tool, I really hope I don't break anything.

Travel can be good. Unless it's to Flint or DeLuth or someplace. Then it's not so very nice.
